The first week of our 2017 internship is officially in the books! This year, eight development interns and two marketing interns from VCU are collaborating with AMC employees to build integration solutions for a variety of platforms.
Four teams have been formed to build cloud based solutions that will be presented to judges on a bi-weekly basis, with a larger presentation of all development at the end of the summer. The competition follows an iterative sprint methodology, and each team must power through to push everything into the cloud. All teams will utilize AMC’s Contact Canvas platform, which incorporates top CRM and communication software such as Microsoft, Salesforce, SAP, Oracle, Avaya, Cisco and Aspect. The marketing interns will learn and articulate the use cases of the solutions created by the development interns and create a go to market strategy .
“Although the summer internship program with VCU is not new to AMC, this is the first year we have our UX Design Lab, located near VCU! The summer internship program has been very successful — the students go through our boot camp and become productive quickly,” said Anthony Uliano, AMC founder and chief technology officer. “We wanted to make this concept more permanent and bring in more students. That was the idea behind leasing a space convenient to VCU.”
This training boot camp has occupied most of the development interns’ time this week – from learning the basics of the platform and acronyms, to reviewing the most productive ways to work together. The marketing interns have spent much of their time learning about Contact Canvas and settling into the programs needed to have a successful summer! All excited to dig in and get creative and put their skills to work, especially being able to work in the cloud.
